Zambia
In commemoration of International Women’s Day,
themed "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress," on March 8, 2024, WVD joined the global and national celebrations and was graced by the Republican Vice President Mutale Nulumango of Zambia.
WVD actively participated by joining the march in Lusaka, Zambia where over 100 WVD Champions and their spouses attended the event, showing support for the significant contributions women make to society.
As an organisation, we have been actively keeping the conversation alive regarding men’s involvement in family health, particularly in considering vasectomy as a contraceptive method. We have engaged Community-based Mobilizers (CBMs) who are engaging men in various communities to participate in discussions surrounding family health and family planning. We firmly believe that if men take part in the family health conversation they will help foster gender equality and balance in society.
Women’s Day commemorations in Uganda
In a show of solidarity and inclusivity, we also participated in the International Women’s Day celebrations held at Komamboga within Kampala, Uganda. The event, organised by Kawempe Division women leadership, provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of male involvement in family planning and reproductive health.
