Introduction
WVD through the years has grown across the USA and Latin America, with its mark now being made on the African continent in Zambia, Uganda, Nigeria and Tanzania. The organisation continues to fulfil its vision of promoting equal responsibility for family health among men, as well as ensuring access to sexual and reproductive healthcare. Additionally, WVD aims to build a society where every man has access to comprehensive sexual health education, support, and resources, ultimately leading to healthier and happier lives for all.
The last three months have been marked by significant strides in promoting family healthcare, vasectomy awareness and male involvement in family health initiatives. WVD remains committed to championing reproductive health rights and empowering individuals to make informed choices for their well-being and that of their families and society.
The vision we are beginning to see is a strengthened culture of more responsible men who are deliberate about their well-being: mentally, spiritually, economically and most importantly, taking the lead role in family health.
Dear World Vasectomy Day Community,
I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. Today, I am thrilled to announce the launch of our quarterly newsletter, a new venture aimed at keeping you closely informed and connected with the impactful work we are doing around the globe.
Over the past 11 years, we have become a truly global organisation promoting male responsibility in family health with partners in over 40 Countries. Our work includes innovative storytelling to build demand, train physicians and medical students to increase the quality of vasectomy services, and establish a network of institutional allies who believe in the value of male engagement in reproductive health.
After years of dreaming of our own clinic in NYC, I am thrilled to announce that the first WVD Clinic has just launched in Lusaka, Zambia. Led by Dr. Robert Kachacha, who was trained by Dr. John Curington and Dr. Michel Labrecque, the clinic stands as a beacon of hope and a source of empowerment for countless families, enabling them to make informed decisions about their futures.
We are excited to embark on the April 22- May 9, “WVD Mother Earth to Motherhood WVD Road Trip.” This initiative, led by our own Dr. Esgar Guarín, will take us through the heartland of America in his mobile vasectomy clinic, emphasizing the importance of men’s role in the fight for reproductive rights. The trip underscores our commitment to integrating family planning with the broader objectives of sustainability and ecological preservation as well as respect for women and mothers. We’re including the press release, schedule as well as the link to our road trip landing page.
Additionally, we are excited to share that World Vasectomy Day will have a voice at the April 15-17, FP2030 meeting in Panama, thanks to Silvana Resendy, our newly minted Managing Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. Her presence ensures our mission and efforts are highlighted on this prestigious international platform. With the 2025 International Conference for Family Planning scheduled to be hosted in Bogota, Colombia, this meeting will further establish WVD as a leader in male focused family planning in the region.
Looking ahead, June promises to be a milestone month for us with the training program in Uganda. This initiative will see two Ugandan physicians, including our very own Dr. Kizza Blair, receiving specialized training in vasectomy. This effort is not just about enhancing skills but also about building a stronger, more resilient community of practitioners dedicated to our cause.
As we embark on these initiatives, your support and involvement remain our greatest strength. Together, we are not just changing lives; we are shaping the future—one vasectomy at a time.
Thank you for your continued commitment to World Vasectomy Day.
Warmest regards,
Jonathan Stack, Executive Director
