WVD Takes Center Stage at Family Planning Review Meeting in Zambia
WVD in Zambia stole the spotlight at the recent Family Planning review meeting held in Kabwe, Zambia. The event, themed “Increasing young people’s participation and access to modern contraceptives through community and private sector engagements,” brought together stakeholders in the family planning sector.
WVD CEO Jonathan Stack presented the background and accomplishments of the organization. Day two of the review meeting we joined a panel discussion on Family Planning Innovations. During the panel we showcased the innovative Non-Scalpel Vasectomy (NSV) method, a cornerstone of WVD’s work in Zambia.
The meeting’s success was capped off by the presence of Dr. George Sinyangwe, Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Health Donor Coordination, and provincial representatives from all 10 provinces of the Ministry of Health. Additionally, various cooperating stakeholders, including NGOs, private sector entities, and community organizations attended the meeting. These stakeholders expressed their enthusiasm for WVD Zambia’s work and indicated their desire to partner with the organization to expand its reach and impact.
The provincial representatives requested that WVD in Zambia should expand its reach to all provinces, training at least one doctor per province in the NSV method. Dr. Sinyangwe launched the revised Family Planning Guidelines and praised WVD’s significant contributions in Zambia, including the launch of the Langiza Chikondi Clinic and Resource Center.
