Langiza Chikondi Clinic | June 2025
In June, Langiza Chikondi Clinic hosted its second No-Scalpel Vasectomy (NSV) training under the Tapeza Project, this time in partnership with Marie Stopes Zambia. Held at Kanyama Level 1 Hospital from June 16th to 20th, the training aimed to build surgical capacity among public sector medical licentiates, each paired with a nurse from their facility—a strategic step toward decentralizing vasectomy services.
The five-day program combined theoretical instruction with hands-on mentorship, covering anatomy, surgical techniques, counseling, and ethics. By the end of the week, 52 vasectomies had been performed, with 35 completed by trainees. All three medical licentiates demonstrated the skill and confidence needed to begin providing NSV services in their home districts.
Each trainee is expected to begin offering services within the coming months, contributing directly to the Tapeza Project’s goal of 5,000 vasectomies. With each successful training, the Langiza Chikondi Clinic strengthens its role as a national leader in male reproductive health and surgical capacity building in Zambia.

WVD Uganda Spurs Vasectomy Uptake in Eastern Uganda. 14 Men Take the Lead as Champions

Between June 24 and July 1, 2025, WVD Uganda led a targeted community sensitization campaign across Eastern Uganda to demystify vasectomy and promote it as a viable family planning option for men. The week-long outreach covered Iganga and surrounding districts, reaching more than 1,000 community members through barazas, one-on-one engagements, and strategic use of local media.
A key highlight was a live radio talk show on Eye FM in Iganga, which generated an overwhelming listener response and boosted referrals. By the end of the campaign, 14 men had voluntarily undergone vasectomies and committed to becoming community champions for the service.
“These champions are not only beneficiaries, they’re becoming powerful voices for change,” said a member of the WVD field team. “They’re helping to normalize male involvement in family planning and reduce stigma around vasectomy.”
The campaign has also ignited fresh interest in Jinja and Buikwe districts, with follow-up activities planned. WVD Uganda remains committed to building a network of informed male advocates as a pathway to sustainable uptake of reproductive health services.
