WVD in Latin America and The Caribbean
On May 23, the Ministry of Health of El Salvador (MINSAL) and World Vasectomy Day (WVD) signed a collaboration agreement with the aim of strengthening the skills of medical personnel in the no-scalpel vasectomy technique.
This agreement allowed, in its first phase, to train four doctors from the Ministry of Health in modern and safe vasectomy techniques, with the aim of offering this service to Salvadoran men on a voluntary, free, and reliable basis.
Agreement with the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires
During the month of May, the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires and World Vasectomy Day (WVD) signed a collaboration agreement to implement the No-Scalpel Vasectomy Training Project, which will begin in 2025 and last for three years. The objective of this agreement is to train healthcare professionals and strengthen the provision of contraceptive services for men, in line with the principles of equality and co-responsibility in contraception.
This training includes not only the training of vasectomists, but also the training of trainers, with the goal of developing local capacity in a scalable manner and thus continuing to train more trainers and vasectomists in the province to facilitate access to vasectomy services.
First Training of Trainers in Argentina
From May 13 to 22, WVD held the first Training of Trainers in Argentina. This training took place in Buenos Aires with the FUSA Group, and the second phase took place at H.I.G.A. San Martín de La Plata, within the framework of an agreement with the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires.
These training sessions were led by master trainer Dr. Michel Labrecque. Dr. Ana Cepeda, previously trained as a trainer, supported Dr. Labrecque in the training of two new local trainers: Dr. Gustavo Cavazzutti and Dr. Mariano Marckovsky. This Training of Trainers session marked an important milestone in the commitments and actions between WVD and the Ministry of Health of the Province of Buenos Aires, as they consolidate the training of local human talent, making the vasectomy training model scalable in the province of Buenos Aires.

XIII AMAdA 2025 International Congress: World Vasectomy Day Present
With the goal of promoting and highlighting the work being done in the country, and in preparation for the November event, World Vasectomy Day (WVD) participated as a guest at the XIII International Congress of the Argentine Contraception Association (AMAdA), held in Buenos Aires on May 14, 15, and 16. Under the theme “Innovation and Equity in Contraception, Sexual and Reproductive Health,” theoretical and practical activities were held in which Dr. Michel Labrecque and Dr. Ana Cepeda, representatives of WVD, presented and worked on the No-Scalpel Vasectomy (NSV) technique during the Pre-Congress. Dr. Michel Labrecque presented the No-Scalpel Vasectomy technique during the gynecology congress, marking an important milestone for WVD, bringing vasectomy to a space typically focused on female contraception.
WVD was also present at the Trade Fair, which ran parallel to the roundtables and symposia, with the aim of raising awareness about the movement’s goals and the various activities being developed in conjunction with local organizations. This participation was key both to continue positioning the practice of VSB in academic forums for debate and reflection on contraception, and to identify potential contacts and/or allies for the November Event, where a broad turnout and a significant array of activities and workshops are expected.
