Building Our Movement: Ten Ways to Support World Vasectomy Day

1. Perform or Promote Vasectomies Year-Round
The heartbeat of WVD is the simple, safe, and effective procedure that gives men control over their fertility. Providers can expand access by offering services in underserved communities, training other physicians, and making vasectomy care a normalized part of routine reproductive health. Come on a mission. Commit to being a WVD trainer. Propose a campaign we can collaborate on together.
2. Host Community Education Events
Organize local forums, town halls, or webinars to address myths and misconceptions around vasectomy. Whether you’re a doctor or a vasectomy acceptor (or both) use stories, testimonials, and science to demystify the procedure and highlight the benefits for men and families alike. We have the materials. We can help you create a program. This year we’ll be launching SNIP TRIP about Dr. Esgar Guarin’s road trip through the Heartland of America. And there’s also the film that launched our movement, THE VASECTOMIST about our own Dr. Doug Stein.
3. Amplify the Message Online
Use your voice and platforms—social media, newsletters, podcasts—to share the WVD mission. Whether it’s resharing WVD content or posting your own stories, digital advocacy brings global attention to the cause. We believe everyone is an influencer - be it to your loved ones, your friends or your ‘followers’. We’ve got memes, and posters, and images and a large supply of audiovisual tools to support your own campaigns.
4. Champion Male Engagement in Family Planning
WVD is about more than vasectomy—it’s about building a culture where men are full partners in reproductive health. Support inclusive programming, counseling, and outreach that empower men to make informed decisions. Ask the most enthusiastic and most articulate of your patients to join in. We can help them find a pathway into our work. Write an article about your own experience for our newsletter.
5. Support Research and Innovation in Male Contraceptives
Stay informed and advocate for funding and adoption of emerging male contraceptive technologies. WVD supports innovation that expands options for men and fosters equity in family planning responsibility. We hold quarterly webinars and a yearly Summit to support newly launched doctors, medical students, beginner vasectomy providers and veterans. Attend our events and bring a friend and a colleague.
6. Become a WVD Ambassador
We’re building a network of vasectomy champions - what we call the Responsible Men’s Club. It’s started in Zambia and plan to launch it worldwide. This alliance of advocates - all men who have gotten a vasectomy are committed to sharing their experiences with others. . As a champion, you’ll receive materials, training, and recognition for your work to advance the mission.
7. Celebrate WVD with Events and Clinics
Every year in November, WVD celebrates its flagship event. Organize open clinics, media campaigns, or symbolic gatherings in your community to join the global action and show solidarity. Attend the 24-hour live stream (any part of it!), or present during the event. This year we want to have at least 100 doctors joining in during the 24 hours from 24 countries.
8. Partner with Local NGOs and Health Agencies
Strengthen your impact by collaborating with grassroots organizations, ministries of health, and community health workers. Together, you can extend outreach, enhance trust, and deliver lasting change. Again, we have the tools to support this effort and are more than willing to collaborate on building programs in your community, city or country.
9. Share Stories That Inspire
Personal stories humanize the mission. Whether you’re a provider, a partner, or someone who chose a vasectomy, your story helps challenge stigma and normalize male involvement in reproductive choices. We are also writers, artists, filmmakers and communicators. Together we’re telling a story of hope and possibility, composed of individuals - men and women transforming their lives out of love for themselves, their family and our future. Share yours with us and we’ll share it with the rest of the world.
10. Donate or Fundraise to Support the Movement
WVD initiatives—training, outreach, education, storytelling—need resources. Consider making a donation or organizing a fundraiser to help WVD continue transforming lives and communities around the world.
