In spite of some technical difficulties, this year had an amazing array of ideas presented, and demonstrated how far organizations have moved to include men in the conversation across multiple continents. Every session was inspiring and brought such intelligence to the issues we face as humans, from procreation to communication, from surviving to thriving, and what it takes to build a more sustainable and benevolent reality for us all.
Themes included a wide variety of topics, from myths and misconceptions about vasectomy, to how men become champions of new masculinity, to youth and sex education, to the role of midwives, to the effects of changing demographics, public-private partnerships, the dynamics of MOHs, and many others that were addressed with passion during the 24 hours.
We do have to offer apologies, too, for those who experienced our technical difficulties. For the first time in 14 years, WVD had a problem that temporarily crashed our broadcast and caused a setback of over an hour, and included canceling or altering a couple of great sessions, one being “The Risk of NOT Having a Vasectomy”, which we hope to bring to you at a future webinar, and another being a live conversation with Alan Vera Vásquez from DKT, the sexologist Estefania Palacios, and Dr. Mélanie Savard-Côté who were going to discuss “Sex and Vasectomy”, using questions that were submitted during our September webinar covering the same subject.
Our deepest apologies, too, to doctors like Robert Kulik, Kevin Christie, Marco Cosentino, and any others who were not able to log in at their appointed times due to a faulty link. We missed seeing you!
In this issue, you will be able to access a very detailed report about all the events in Uganda and Zambia, as well as Latin America, where we heard from a large contingent of Africa’s and Latin America’s most powerful family planning organizations, including MSI, PPAZ, SAT Zambia, FP2030, FOROLAC, MINSAL El Salvador, and CEMOPLAF.
