Maria Reneé Gironda
Assistant to Regional Director – Latin America and The Caribbean
Many know me as “Mare” or “Reneé,” and my story with World Vasectomy Day began in 2021, when the team arrived in Bolivia for training. From the very first moment, I was fascinated by the work they were doing: the technique, the precision, and above all, the impact they were generating.
Three years later, life allowed me to join this incredible team as Assistant for Latin America and the Caribbean, and since then, my world has undergone a complete transformation.

Being part of WVD has given me a new perspective on gender, one that is broader and transformative. I now see vasectomy not only as a medical procedure but as a topic that cuts across many dimensions of life. As a psychologist, it has been eye-opening to observe men from a different angle, to understand their decisions, and to accompany them on their journey toward more conscious fatherhood and family planning.
I have nearly 10 years of experience in contraceptive methods, but this past year has been, without a doubt, the most enriching. Learning, questioning, and continuing to explore new ways to approach reproductive health motivates me every single day. I am passionate about constant evolution, always seeking to stay at the forefront of the issues we work on within the organization.
My role at WVD is as dynamic as it is challenging. From organizing agendas, itineraries, meetings, webinars, and workshops, to managing the WVD Connect platform—a project supported by FP2030 and now a source of great pride for us, having become a reference for vasectomy information throughout Latin America.
Being part of such a committed and passionate team is a privilege I deeply value. I hope to continue contributing to the growth of World Vasectomy Day and help make this organization a key pillar in technique updates, information dissemination, and paradigm transformation.
Let’s keep moving forward together!
