Vasectomy Ski Seminar 2025 Frisco, Colorado, USA

This January 27-31, Dr. Doug Stein, co-founder of World Vasectomy Day, hosted the 10th annual Vasectomy Ski Retreat with a gathering of about 50 vasectomy providers from 10 countries. Every year near the end of January, doctors join together to share their experiences, expertise, and practices with each other, and at the same time enjoy the snowy slopes near Frisco, Colorado, where the skiing, hiking and sightseeing fill the day, and shared knowledge via educational presentations every evening. Topics are diverse, and include case studies, specific techniques to improve procedures, new instruments or methodologies that are being tested or proposed for efficiency or temporary vasectomies, tools to assess potential for vasectomy regret,  and many other didactic sessions for the medically inclined.

Throughout the days and late into the nights, there are informal conversations and presentations, providing a chance to build the camaraderie that fuel’s WVD’s success.

The Ski Seminar has humble roots, and what started as a gathering of two (Dr. Nick Demediuk – Australia – and Doug Stein in 2014) has grown steadily over the years. We encourage more doctors, especially those with less experience, to consider attending in the future but keep in mind, slots fill up quickly so don’t miss out!

Zoom Meeting with Argentina during this year’s Ski Seminar:

Last week with the doctors,  we also had an amazing opportunity to meet via Zoom with leaders from the Ministry of Health in Buenos Aires, Argentina, who are enthusiastically looking forward to hosting WVD 2025. Their objective is to have fully functioning vasectomy programs in 10 major hospitals in the province. The Ministry made it very clear that they not only want to expand vasectomy services, but they are also committed to creating a climate of care for men.

On behalf of WVD, Michel Labrecque and Esgar Guarín are already planning training well in advance of November, in the hopes that more doctors will be ready to participate in the event. Esgar and Michel will be traveling to Argentina in April to launch the nation’s first vasectomy mobile unit. They will be in charge of finding additional vasectomy trainers for later events.
