WELCOME NOTE, Vol 2, Issue 6, June 7, 2025

Happy Father’s Day!

This month, we are pleased to welcome our colleague, Heather Vahdat, executive director at Male Contraceptive Initiative, to write the feature article, entitled Bright Horizons: The Future of Male Contraception. In it, find a fascinating array of hormonal and non-hormonal products currently being tested to give men future options besides vasectomy, condoms, or withdrawal.

Then on June 14, at 10:00 EST we’re taking a look back at The History of No-Scalpel Vasectomy: a free webinar, open to all, with a panel of some of the most influential pioneers of this technique, and their efforts to educate and change vasectomy for the better globally. Join Drs. Chic Wilson, Ramchandra Murti Kaza, Philip Li, and Dra. Diana Torres for their insights and experiences contributing to the remarkable history of NSV. Click Here for Link to Register

Meanwhile, we have “News from the Field”. It’s astonishing to see how much energy and progress is being made in Africa and Latin America, as ministries of health in Zambia, Uganda, Argentina, Ecuador, and El Salvador, as well as NGOs in Bolivia, Mexico, and Colombia have all embraced vasectomy programs and training thanks in part to the efforts of WVD. The momentum is palpable, and the interest from other countries continues to grow.

In Who We Are, you’ll also meet Visule Kabunda, the talented and much loved creative director who puts this newsletter, its graphic designs and videos together every month, as well as provides WVD with many other graphics and films. WVD is fortunate to enjoy Visule’s creativity, management style and technical skills.

And in Doctor’s Corner, you’ll get to meet Sarah Miller, the vibrant, dedicated vasectomy provider at Northeast Vasectomy Clinic and Family Planning in Boston, Massachusetts, and a great friend and supporter of  WVD.

Hope you enjoy this issue!
