A few years ago, discussing vasectomy in Latin America was a significant challenge, but the conversation is evolving. Last year, WVD joined forces with strategic allies across the region, paving the way for what’s to come.
El Salvador: A Historic Step Forward
In October 2024, WVD conducted a training program that led to a groundbreaking development. In January, the Ministry of Health launched the Vasectomy Program, working tirelessly to ensure access for men. In a historically conservative country, this initiative represents a cultural shift driven by dedicated leaders from MINISAL El Salvador.
Argentina: Shaping the Future of Men’s Health
This year, Argentina is hosting WVD. In November 2024, WVD trained the first team of doctors from the Ministry of Health of Buenos Aires Province (MS-PBA). Now, we continue with a second round of training, awareness campaigns, strategic partnerships, and exciting developments. The MS-PBA remains deeply committed to expanding access to vasectomy and upholding sexual and reproductive rights.
FP2030: Strengthening the Region
Our partnership with FP2030 LAC is growing stronger. Last year, WVD won one of 11 grants to develop "WVD Connect," a digital platform providing information on vasectomy and responsible masculinities. This year, a second grant was awarded to further enhance the platform. Together, we are reinforcing FP2030's mission and our shared commitment to the region.
