WVD’s 2nd International Seminar on Vasectomy and Sexual and Reproductive Health

WVD’s 2nd International Seminar on Vasectomy and Sexual and Reproductive Health took place on November 18 at the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad de los Andes. It was the first academic event in Colombia to cover vasectomy and male sexual and reproductive health.

The day’s scheduled included official presentations by national and international experts – from Colombia, Mexico, Canada, United States and offered attendees a comprehensive summary of the latest techniques in vasectomy, a global perspective of the procedure, advances and challenges of sexual health and reproductive in Colombia and the most current research on the relationship between masculinity and health care. 

Also, during the day, we handed out four WVD awards in the following categories: Award for Excellence in the Institutional Promotion of Vasectomy – Act. Yolanda Varela, Centro Nacional de Equidad de Género y Salud Reproductiva, the Award for Excellence in the Practice of Vasectomy, Dra. Diana Torres, Profamilia, a Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Michel Labrecque and a Vasectomy Acceptor of the Year award to Nicolas Samper, a renowned sports journalist, who had the courage to share his decision to have a vasectomy with thousands of followers nationwide.

Additionally,  WVD gave special recognition to Profamilia for their leadership in the country and a special tribute to Dr. Arturo Arenas, from Medellin, for his extraordinary service while performing more than 60,000 vasectomies.
